Preparing for change: exploring the Mental Health Act reforms

Date: Wednesday 22 October 2025

Time: 10:00 - 16:00

Location: Manchester

When you book your place, you’ll receive a confirmation email, including the venue details.

Overview

At this all-day in-person event we will raise awareness of the reforms and explore how we expect they will affect autistic people, people who have a learning disability, and their families, and the communities and the services that support them.

Although at this point, we await the bill progressing through parliament, this event will explore what the current bill looks like and help us all prepare together.

We will hear from people who have experience of the Mental Health Act in their lives and work. They will talk about the expected changes that the bill will bring about. There will be opportunities to explore how the reforms are likely to affect your work and to network with colleagues to get ready for the changes.

For background and context on the proposed reforms to the MHA, please see the following:

Who should attend?

This will be of interest to principal Social Workers / AMHP, Commissioners, Care Providers, people who draw on care and support and their families and direct support workers and self advocacy groups.
